I have been to Open Flame several times and I have never had a bad experience. My favorite is the Pinot grigio chicken. There is a serious lack of decent affordacle restaurants around this area, so when I find one I like I just keep going back. My other go to is the Chancery. They have a wide array of menu choices, so I get something different every time. I haven't tried the brunch (yet) but now that I read all these reviews, I definitely will :)

I was looking for someplace new for breakfast. I've had good dinner experiences at Open Flame; I checked Yelp and saw they serve breakfast. A look at the online menu and I was able to narrow down my possible choices. Service was quick and courteous, especially considering our waiter was training a new person. The food arrived reasonably quickly, exactly as ordered, and tasted about as expected. The coffee was weak. I'll be back for breakfast now that I know they're serving it.

I'm honestly surprised by the negative reviews here, but I understand that experiences will vary depending on personal situations. I've been a huge fan for years and I like to come here at least once a month if the budget allows. The food and service has always been great, even in busy times, and ice come to know the owners son who really does listen to any concerns. That's a five in my book, and I rarely give a place five stars. First of all is the easy to access location. It's right on the corner of HWY100 and Edgerton so no matter what direction you are coming from, the traffic signal is your friend. There is also a very sizable parking lot that will always look full, but don't let that fool you. It's on a bit of a slope and spots are always available, and despite the amount of cars, there will be open tables, so come on in! There is a large bar area with tv's and partial walls, so the noise stays contained. There are 3 distinct indoor dining areas and a large outdoor patio. The main room has booths and tables, as well as larger booths if you have a big group. To the left is a rarely used atrium filled with tables, and to the right is the atrium that faces HWY 100 and is lined with booths. Anywhere you sit will be comfortable. I prefer the front atrium so I can watch the traffic zip by. It's also a little quieter too. The breakfast is available until 3 and I believe happy hour starts at four. Every evening there are specials in addition to the main menu. Some of the specials tend to be slightly more expensive but they have different ingredients and preparations. If you sign up for emails, you will receive coupons for a free meal on birthdays or anniversaries.

Used to be much better, not sure what's going on to be honest. The service was S...L...O...W. Seven people and 30 minutes to order. Then when they finally did arrive, two entrées - from their "specials" menu -- we had to send back as we found paper/plastic on both! Perhaps that's the "special" recipe. Eventually got the manager's attention. Made good on the two plastic entrées but nothing else, not even a follow up visit. One the plus side, generous wine pours. This will help you swallow all the paper and plastic swimming in the food.

To start, we went unknowingly on a packers game night. The place was empty, minus the bar, which was not loud at all. Service was prompt. Water within seconds of asking for it. A lot of specials to choose from and the menu had a wide variety of meals. We ordered what I called fries mozzarella with marinara and spinach. DELICIOUS! We each had a side salad. One with ranch and the other with greek. No complaints. My boyfriend had a 6oz parmesan filet mignon with fried mac and cheese balls and bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp. He killed it!!! I chose the breaded jumbo shrimp, sautéed veggies and baked potato. I ate till I could eat anymore!! So good!! We were pleasantly surprised with the price along with the food! We will be returning very soon!!

It was a very comfortable evening, so we wanted to dine outside. Open Flame seemed like the perfect place. We were seated quickly, and the patio was pleasant. Our server was professional and quick with our needs. The problem we had though was with the food. My wife's cod was overcooked and rubbery. My daughter got the grouper over garlic pasta. The grouper was a little dry and the pasta was literally taken from the water and put on the plate. It only that plain pasta taste. I had the fried perch which was ok. It wasn't all bad though. The fried calamari appetizer was good...but it wasn't enough to get us to come back again.

Great Place for Sunday Brunch with the Folks! I had my parents in town today. I took them for brunch to the Open Flame. Perfect place for this. Big Menu - huge selection of anything you want. Good service, Good Food - Good Deal!

I don't know why i don't come here more often. The ambience is very intimate and classy without needing to feel like you need to dress in a tux or dress. At one time this was a Greek restaurant (is it still secretly? I sure think so). The layout is open in the main area with smaller connected areas off of that. They have expanding tables to accommodate larger groups but without disrupting the intimate feel if only couples are eating. The service was good and our waitress was particularly friendly and attentive. We started with a goat cheese and marinara dip with garlic bread. It was very tasty and reasonable price as well - about $5.95 i think? I then ordered a gyro plate with fries. Scrumptious! The fries were hot and just a bit crispy. Yum! The meat was very good too and comes in he classic heaping style you get at any good Greek place. My husband said the chicken sandwich he got was also excellent. I was here once before and remember ordering a great Skyy Blood Orange mixed drink and having a hard time picking it out from a very tempting list. Also a good list of wines including a few featured German Mosel region options for the more refined palates out there. Note: I like to think of myself as a bit of a calamari connoisseur and i try it anywhere it's available. At Open Flame it's probably a 7/10. It's good, but i have had much better. Try it if you want, but i really recommend the goat cheese plate mentioned earlier very highly and it's even cheaper!

This place was so so. I had the cajun chicken sandwich. The s.o. had the french onion soup and salad. The chicken was passable but the french onion soup wasn't so great. It wasn't cheap but I don't think I'd call it expensive either. The seemed to have a decent wine list.

Food was really good, mimosas are overpriced for the small amount you get, service was ok, but we had to wait a while to get our check

Typical chain restaurant quality food. I wouldn't recommend if your looking for fresh healthy cooking. I had the fried cod and it was quite bland, my guess by its uniformity was that it's flash frozen precut packaged fish.

Food wasn't the best... I wouldn't go back to try another entrée. Service was slow on a Sunday afternoon.

We ducked in here for breakfast just because it was next to the place where I was getting new tires. I wasn't expecting much: it's your typical south side restaurant with a similar menu to a lot of its neighbors (at least, when it comes to brunch and vegetarian dishes). It's affordable, the service is friendly and pretty fast and the food is decent. Very comfortable, with familiar food done well.

This is one of those places that I have looked it for a long time and I finally stopped by. I'm running out of early breakfast places to try, 6-7 am opening and out by 8 am so i landed here. I didn't know what to expect. When I walked in I was greeted with a nice bar and as I looked around the whole place in general was very nice looking with rich wood, tile and stone. This was no dump or dive at all and a really cool place to have a meal. The place was starting fill up fast so they must be doing something right. The he service was great and I must have had at least 7 stops to see haw everything was. How does everything taste was a theme from the employees. I ordered the country skillet with sour dough toast. My country skillet had seasoned baby red potatoes, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, ham, sausage, bacon topped with cheddar and Monterrey jack cheese. Two eggs sunny side up with sour dough toast, see my pictures. As I had the first couple bites I noticed that the skillet was seasoned very well and it was very very tasty. I think they put crack in the food. The food was fresh and the most tastiest breakfast ever. I even ate past the full mark because it was so tasty and still took some home. This was one great breakfast place. I will post pictures. Over all this was the tastiest break place I have had found and the service was great. How could I have waited so long to get here. I would recommend this as a must for breakfast and I can't wait to go back.

A Greek restaurant that pretends not to be a Greek restaurant. They used to have the best hot wings around but they took them off the appetizer menu. Why would you take one of the most popular food items in America off your menu? How many flaming orders of saganaki do you sell?

Really really good place to have a brunch! The combination for each or their dishes is amazing! The raisin toast that comes along with two eggs any style is delicious, also they have fresh fruit! The crab cakes are also unbelievable! I wish I could try everything on the lovely menu!

My husband and I belong to a very large fish fry group. The Open Flame is an excellent pick for a Friday fish fry and for lunches on Sunday's. It is actually one of our favorite places. They're open for breakfast and my book discussion group had the best breakfast a restaurant could offer. Everything is done to perfection, and this is a consistent, over a long period of time observation. This place knows how to serve larger groups of 12 - 16 people without problem orders. I feel the prices are fair, a great value for what you get. For the guy needing help with a wait staff problem. One word: Janice.

My family and I frequent this place, as the food is consistently good. The waitstaff is usually decent, there is an exception, Janice, she is great! If you want the best. service ask to be seated in her section. We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Breakfast is great especially the French toast, and sausage patties. Also the French onion soup is awesome as is the homemade bread, and the chicken. Burgers are good too. Nice ambiance, a nice place to bring the family. Oh and you gotta try the tiramisu .... Yummmm!

  • Christy S.

Great ambiance, helpful wait staff, plentiful choices. Way too salty! I mentioned something to the waitress and she said it was probably the seasoning because they are careful to not over salt. Ok, then why was everything we ate like this? From the prime rib egg rolls to the pasta. We won't be back.

This is a hybrid; the Greek diner meets fine dining. You get upscale food with the service and portions you expect form a neighborhood family "Greek Place". The menu is diverse, and large. They are open from breakfast to a late dinner. Breakfast is nothing special, but very good. Typical diner menu. My Wife tried to get some salmon with her omelet one Sunday and they wanted $10 ala cart fee. We go a few couple a month, mostly dinner.

I just stopped in there moments ago with my husband for an impromptu breakfast while his tire got fixed. The decor and ambiance are wonderful. I'd be happy to go on a date there. The food seems to be well-thought-out, and the menu is extensive. One complaint on my part, though. (And this may have been a one-in-a-million shot on the menu that it's what I ordered) I was seeing what they had, and crepes really caught my eye. The had a decent selection. And savory crepes! I feel like people forget that those tender morsels make a great vessel for nearly any filling! Not just fruit and whipped cream! They offer a Spinach Scrambler Crepe, and I was delighted to try it. Crepes stuffed with scrambled eggs, sauteed spinach and bacon, all topped with hollandaise sauce. Sounds delicious, right? We ordered orange juice. It was obviously from concentrate, and watered down. Whatever, it's orange juice and our fault for not asking them to put vodka in it anyway. My husband ordered plain pancakes. They were good. My crepes arrived, and something seemed.... off. Everything seemed fresh (though I believe the hollandaise is made from a mix - I'm not 100% sure, though) but my crepes were sweet with a hint of cinnamon. I had thought for sure they would use a different crepe batter for savory crepes (it only takes 5 minutes to throw the batter together in a blender for pete's sake!) but every bite I took tasted like a gang fight between the Sweets and the Savories on my tongue, and I still don't know who won. Maybe the lesson here is that there are no winners when we fight. *cue lesson-learned interlude* Our server didn't ask how the food was at any point. He seemed really young and new to the biz. We'll probably be back, but I'll be more careful about what I order.

Have been going here with my wife as our special place for the last five years. Always 5 star food and service, just loved it above all other places. The owner has clearly fallen on dire times as of late...the wife and I went for our quarterly special date night only to find that the menu had been chopped to pieces. Regardless we ordered from their slimmed down menu, still expecting excellence, only to be met with the disappointing bagged/canned soup, bagged/canned veggies and our mashed potatoes were clearly boxed mush. My wife's filet mignon was a pre-frozen piece of crap, can't speak to the rest of her food as she couldn't finish it. The crab stuffed mushroom tasted like a Tunas frozen butt-hole. My 30$ new York strip appeared to be also frozen, I ate less than a quarter of the meal, it was barely Applebee's worthy. I only say this in the hope that the owner sees this and backtracks on the obvious cutbacks. Open flame has been my jam for years, the food I didn't finish was so dissapionting, the menu has been similarly dumbed down. I want to give you my money open flame, but not if I can get the same food at the B's for a quarter the price. R.I.P OPEN FLAME!!!!

Started the evening off with a very awkward waitress. She was nice but hard to talk to. Then the food. It was overpriced for what you got and VERY salty. It was presented nicely but the food was surely below par with restaurants similarly priced. The sauce on my pork medallions looked and tasted like it came out of a can. The mashed potatoes had no flavor. The asparagus was over cooked. They do wood roasted meats but they have everything under the sun on the menu and very few wood roasted items. I would suggest they focus the menu around the wood roasted idea and increase the quality of ingredients.

My four trips to open flame include two dinners, one group event dinner and brunch. For the first dinner, I wasn't very impressed by the pasta I had and didn't return for several years. My second visit was for a wedding rehearsal dinner. I enjoyed the cheeseburger - is was cooked just right despite being a charbroiled burger (I normally don't like the charred taste). For my third visit, I had the parmesan crusted filet mignon. I LOVED it. I only like the finest steaks and this satisfied my high standards. The parmesan topping was very unique. The filet was placed on mashed potato croquette type thing. Everything was perfect about that meal. I can't remember what my parents had to eat but I remember they were dissatisfied, to my surprise, because I truly enjoyed my email. Lastly, I returned today to try brunch. This place is ALWAYS packed on Sundays for brunch. I came at 10:30AM and had to wait twenty minutes to be seated. I was drawn back into this place after finding the breakfast menu online. Eggs benedict? Cream cheese stuffed french toast? Creme brulee waffles? Awesome. I ended up with the Bananas Foster Crepes - they were filled with a sweetened cream cheese and ricotta. Phenomenal. The crepes tasted like a crepe should but the bananas foster topping gave it that unique touch that will ensure I'll be back to try another creative menu item. My grandma went with the Apple Cinnamon Pancake (singular). It was just one pancake, but it had to be at least 12" in diameter. The menu notes that it takes longer to cook (10-15 minutes), but we weren't in any rush. Unfortunately, it took 25 minutes until we got an update on our meal. Found out the cook dropped the pancake so they were making another. That took another 20 minutes. Though, the waitress rectified the problem by giving us the pancake meal for free so considering we were forewarned that it would take awhile for that pancake and they gave us it for free after the mistake, I won't knock off any stars for the service. My one big issue with this place is that it is always so loud. On sundays, there are a ton of groups/large families that come in. I'm talking 10+ at a table.. and about 3 or 4 of those tables, so it gets awfully loud. Ask to be seated as far away from the large open area as possible. Overall though, I've been happy with my visits here - and it seems most people are because I drive past here every day and spot at least 25+ cars here at any time. Also note that on MONDAYS 7am-Noon, buy one meal + two beverages, get the second meal free. Not a bad deal!

i have had the fortunate experience of dining at the Open Flame restuarant many times over the years. the only reason why i gave it 4 stars was that sometimes the service can be a bit slow (one time sits vividly in my head because we were sat in the bar because it was prom night and the place was extremely busy.) the service in general is very good. the service we received tonight was spectacular. the waitress was attentive but allowed us to sit and talk without constantly interrupting. it is nice to be allowed to sit without the feeling that the server is trying to turn the table ... those of you who can appreciate that know what i mean. the dining experience can range from family style restaurant experience for a quick bite to eat to an intimate dining experience that is perfect for a date night. depending on the guest, i have been able to entertain as i saw fit. the environment is somewhat rustic ... which is a great improvement over most family dining ('think Greek") experiences, yet the prices range from about $11-$28. truly any kind of dining experience can be had here. there are booths in 3 seperate areas with several tables in the center of the main dining room (a plus for a larger family get together or social event). if you are on a date, the booths along the north side of the main dining room afford the intimate setting for couples. if you are looking for outside dining, they have just put in an outside patio that truly looks like it could be an excellent experience as well. on to the food .... i have never had a bad dish here. the menu ranges from pork, chicken, fish, seafood, veal and steaks. anyone should be able to find something that strikes their fancy. at tonight's dining experience, we ordered the 10 oz filet ($28) ordered medium well, the 16 oz New York strip steak ($27) and the 3 pork chop dinner with blue cheese crust ($18). the steaks were cooked to perfection. as previously noted in my other critiques, it seems that you can't find a place that actually knows how to cook a rare steak. (it is one of my pet peaves to have to send a steak back because it is overdone, even after i have warned the waitress that it can not be too rare.) suffice it to say, it was perfect! the medium well filet was ordered to be pink in the center and not bloody ... again, perfectly cooked. my only complaint was the pork chops are too thin for my liking ... but, hey, it wasn't my dinner. my guest did not complain and that is what truly matters. another pet peeve is undercooked baked potatoes ... not to be found here! what a relief. nicely cooked and fresh at that. sometimes you feel like bakers are left over from the night before. of course, you get a choice of potato .. i've had the garlic mashed in the past. and every dinner is served with freshly sauteed vegetables ... crips and not overcooked obviously not served after sitting in a steam table/tray. really, besides the one bad experience i had there, i really have no complaints about this restaurant. give it a try ... i am sure you won't be disappointed! no place is perfect, but for the price point this one comes pretty darn close ... enjoy!

This was my third visit to Open Flame, and we will not return. The first time the service was spotty, and the salmon was literally so overcooked it was crunchy. The server never asked how the food was, nor did she check back with the table after serving the table. The second time we tried the place for brunch. I had huevos rancheros; it was pretty mediocre at best. The description states that the eggs were on a tortilla, which one would assume meant a soft tortilla, instead it was essentially one hard taco shell that was flat with two very fried eggs, so hard they could have doubled as hockey pucks. And a salsa that was not great. The third time, (don't ask why I gave this place 3 tries) we walked in and were seated immediately. We were seated at the front of the restaurant, practically feeling like we were on display as the rest of the customers were taking up the booths against the walls. The water person promptly distributed water to all of us. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. After 15 minutes, nobody came to take a drink order, ask us if we had decided what to eat, or apologized for not taking care of us. As my partner and I discussed what our course of action was going to be the maitre d and I established eye contact, I raised my hand to get the person to come over, and instead the woman kept on walking. It was so rude, and uncalled for. We left immediately, and told a group of people about our experience on the way out. I always say if you have an okay time, you probably won't tell anyone about it, but if it's horrible, you will tell plenty of people. So here you go Open Flame, I'm going to tell anyone who asks what terrible service you have given.

I've been to Open Flame twice now, and can say I've enjoyed my experience both times, but wasn't wowed out of my mind. Food: Solid. Plenty of options (get their garlic mashed potatoes!), entree portions are normal for a woodfire grill-esque place, and good variety in types of food on the menu. Ambiance: Again, solid. Nothing spectacular, but a nice quiet, intimate place where you could take either a business colleague or a romantic interest. Service: Above average. I've been impressed both times I've been with the waitstaff. Very attentive, but not overly intrusive at the table. Like I said, I've enjoyed both times I've gone - just not giddy to go back more than other places.

Been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Good: Excellent service!!! Very nice bar atmosphere. Comfortable environment & not too loud so it's easy to have conversation. Good breakfast & lunch. The Bad: High prices for average food quality at dinner. Ordered hamburger's and they were just o.k. Fries could have been seasoned and were greasy.

The food good, ambiance, pretty good. Quiet and pretty classy. Although I had been here a few times before this experience was less than stellar..story to follow..... We had a group of family to Open Flame to celebrate a family occasion. There was a group of 24 of us and we had pre-reserved a room for the lunch. We were told that the tables would be split apart, but it was one LONG table that went through the room. Ok, I can deal. Service was ok. Things were done quickly but often our drinks were left empty. The food was amazing. We offered our guests 3 options. 1/2 rack of ribs, cod oscar and steak with shrimp. The cod was to DIE for good. The crab and scallops on top was plentiful and the fish was very well cooked and seasoned. The steak and shrimp was raved about by our guests which I appreciated and the ribs were good, but not off the chart awesome. Dinner went smoothly but then disaster struck. They had pre-cut the cake. I was heart broken. We were unable to get any pictures with our daughter with her cake (it was her baptism) and to make matters worse, I hadn't even seen the cake as my in-laws brought it. No one had asked about cutting it or if we were even ready for it. To top it off the waitress was less than helpful when I asked why. I was told that it was their procedure to just keep the meal moving and they always cut the cake. Wow. I was floored. I have never had an event like this where they did not ask before doing something like that. The manager apologized and waived the cake cutting fee but that did not soften the blow. If you do have an event there, be sure to give concise instructions so that things go as planned. Needless to say although the food was great I will not be back to Open Flame again.

First, let me say, even though our server was new, she was very good. One suggestion is to give the servers name tags if thy aren't going to offer their names. Other than that she was very attentive, polite and helpful. Now, on to the food.....it was TERRIBLE!! I ordered fish with angel hair pasta and asparagus. The fish was soaked in butter and olive oil and had no seasoning whatsoever. The pasta was overcooked and the asparagus undercooked. Blah! My husband ordered the veal scalopinni with bacon wrapped shrimp...the veal was the same breaded pressed stuff you can buy in the freezer section at your grocery store and the shrimp didnt come with the meal. He had to ask the waitress to get the dish after the fact...served cold and way overcooked. Over all the only good thing about the meal was the bread and that was only 4 pieces in a basket. Will not go back.

Been here many times because it is a favorite of my in-laws who live down the road from it. Typically we are there for dinner and drinks which is always OK. I've never had a bad experience there but I have never been wowed by the food either. The bar area is nice and comfortable and the specialty drinks/martinis are pretty good (especially the raspberry and mango martinis). The staff is nice and the menu is huge. i generally find that the larger and more diverse the menu and less impressive the food is because they don't take the time to specialize in anything but this makes it convenient for larger groups. Had brunch there a couple weeks ago for the first time and it was pretty typical of a Greek-style restaurants. The wait for our food was quite long but the service was still attentive. Prices are pretty fair, if not just a tad high.

Food is just mediocre. Probably would not come back, unless it was just for a burger or rotisserie chicken. Dinner with my parents and sister's family so we had a group of 11. Nice looking restaurant and was able to accommodate a larger good. Also a convenient location. I had chicken/rib combo. The rotisserie chicken was pretty good but the ribs were below average. They were dry and you could tell that it had been cooked a long before I arrived and was just reheated. My wife had a steak & shrimp combo and it was just ok. Only 2 asparagus stalks for the side dish. Shrimp had no flavor. Steak was ok, but again bland. My sons each had chicken fettuccine alfredo. Chicken was overcooked and the only flavor in the alfredo sauce was garlic. Nothing at all impressive. Pretty much everyone commented that their food was just ok. Very large serving size - would have been better to have less food but better quality.

I have been here twice. Both times with large groups and found the service to be excellent and the food delicious. From the outside it looks like any other family type restaurant along Highway 100. But when you get inside, it really has a more upscale feeling. I found so many things that I wanted to try on the menu, that it was hard for me to decide. My favorite was the crabcake eggs benedict that I had for breakfast. It was served with roasted potatoes, and beer battered deep fried asparagus. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but decided I would be adventurous and try it. Now I can't wait to go back for breakfast so I can try it again. From what I could tell, it seems very popular with all ages of people. I saw groups of college age students, families, elderly people and everybody in between. It's location on the corner of Highway 100 and Edgerton, which is near the expressway makes it a great place to meet when you want to get a big group together. And since the menu is so diverse, everybody should be able to find something they like. On Thursdays kids 12 and younger eat free, with the purchase of an adult dinner. I believe it is up to 2 kids, for each adult.

Decent food, but not impressed that the manager refused to support local military Veterans by simply helping to spread the word about a local nonprofit's benefit event!

Typical chain restaurant quality food. I wouldn't recommend if your looking for fresh healthy cooking. I had the fried cod and it was quite bland, my guess by its uniformity was that it's flash frozen precut packaged fish.

A Greek restaurant that pretends not to be a Greek restaurant. They used to have the best hot wings around but they took them off the appetizer menu. Why would you take one of the most popular food items in America off your menu? How many flaming orders of saganaki do you sell?

We ducked in here for breakfast just because it was next to the place where I was getting new tires. I wasn't expecting much: it's your typical south side restaurant with a similar menu to a lot of its neighbors (at least, when it comes to brunch and vegetarian dishes). It's affordable, the service is friendly and pretty fast and the food is decent. Very comfortable, with familiar food done well.

This place was so so. I had the cajun chicken sandwich. The s.o. had the french onion soup and salad. The chicken was passable but the french onion soup wasn't so great. It wasn't cheap but I don't think I'd call it expensive either. The seemed to have a decent wine list.

We'll probably be back, but I'll be more careful about what I order.

i have had the fortunate experience of dining at the Open Flame restuarant many times over the years. the only reason why i gave it 4 stars was that sometimes the service can be a bit slow (one time sits vividly in my head because we were sat in the bar because it was prom night and the place was extremely busy.) the service in general is very good. the service we received tonight was spectacular. the waitress was attentive but allowed us to sit and talk without constantly interrupting. it is nice to be allowed to sit without the feeling that the server is trying to turn the table ... those of you who can appreciate that know what i mean. the dining experience can range from family style restaurant experience for a quick bite to eat to an intimate dining experience that is perfect for a date night. depending on the guest, i have been able to entertain as i saw fit. the environment is somewhat rustic ... which is a great improvement over most family dining ('think Greek") experiences, yet the prices range from about $11-$28. truly any kind of dining experience can be had here. there are booths in 3 seperate areas with several tables in the center of the main dining room (a plus for a larger family get together or social event). if you are on a date, the booths along the north side of the main dining room afford the intimate setting for couples. if you are looking for outside dining, they have just put in an outside patio that truly looks like it could be an excellent experience as well. on to the food .... i have never had a bad dish here. the menu ranges from pork, chicken, fish, seafood, veal and steaks. anyone should be able to find something that strikes their fancy. at tonight's dining experience, we ordered the 10 oz filet ($28) ordered medium well, the 16 oz New York strip steak ($27) and the 3 pork chop dinner with blue cheese crust ($18). the steaks were cooked to perfection. as previously noted in my other critiques, it seems that you can't find a place that actually knows how to cook a rare steak. (it is one of my pet peaves to have to send a steak back because it is overdone, even after i have warned the waitress that it can not be too rare.) suffice it to say, it was perfect! the medium well filet was ordered to be pink in the center and not bloody ... again, perfectly cooked. my only complaint was the pork chops are too thin for my liking ... but, hey, it wasn't my dinner. my guest did not complain and that is what truly matters. another pet peeve is undercooked baked potatoes ... not to be found here! what a relief. nicely cooked and fresh at that. sometimes you feel like bakers are left over from the night before. of course, you get a choice of potato .. i've had the garlic mashed in the past. and every dinner is served with freshly sauteed vegetables ... crips and not overcooked obviously not served after sitting in a steam table/tray. really, besides the one bad experience i had there, i really have no complaints about this restaurant. give it a try ... i am sure you won't be disappointed! no place is perfect, but for the price point this one comes pretty darn close ... enjoy!
